Cannon Briefly Evacuated When Leaking Water Sets Off Alarm

The Cannon House Office Building was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after water leaking from a burst pipe set off an alarm.

Capitol Police spokeswoman Jessica Gissubel said the ruptured pipe was likely related to cold weather conditions. The alarm is often triggered by leaking pipes, she added.

Staffers were allowed to re-enter the building just before 2 p.m., after the alarm was reset.
