Rep. Joe Baca’s (D-Calif.) office recently scored two new sets of hands.
Legislative Assistant Zev Kanter joins the Golden State Congressman’s team fresh from a stint as intern for Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.).
The 24-year-old Kanter, who earlier worked as an account executive for the political consulting and direct-mail firm JMG Direct, holds a bachelor’s in political science and economics from the University of Rochester.
He hails from Syracuse, N.Y.
After nearly two years as a law clerk for Terris, Pravlik & Millian, David Ramirez arrives in the office as legislative correspondent and staff assistant.
A member of Swarthmore College’s class of 2001, Ramirez earned a bachelor’s in political science.
Ramirez, 23, has also served as an intern for Amazon Alliance. He is from Lutherville, Md.
Davis’ Dandies. Virginia Rep. Jo Ann Davis (R) recently acquired three new faces and promoted a pair of staffers.
Old Dominion State native John Fleet comes aboard as military legislative assistant, having previously worked on the Senate side in the office of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
The 31-year-old Fleet, who served as president of his class in 1995, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.
After a tour of duty in the European Parliament, Melissa Smith has returned stateside to serve as Davis’ legislative assistant.
Hailing from Trenton, N.J., Smith earned a bachelor’s from James Madison University in 2001 before going on to receive a master’s in public administration from that same institution. She is 25.
Legislative Correspondent Jonathan Kidwell moves up a notch to legislative assistant. He replaces Vaughn Murphy, who becomes legislative counsel to the Government Reform subcommittee on civil service.
Kidwell, a 23-year-old San Diego native, received his bachelor’s in political science from Yale University.
Brent Robinson, who formerly served as staff assistant, gets the green light to be legislative correspondent.
Robinson, 23, is from Fincastle, Va.
He attended the College of William & Mary, earning a 2002 bachelor’s in history and government.
Finally, freshly minted Villanova University graduate Sarah Roberts joins as staff assistant.
The 23-year-old Danbury, Conn., native earlier served as intern for both Reps. John Sweeney (R-N.Y.) and Joe Pitts (R-Pa.).
