FBI Raids Stevens’ Alaska Home

Federal investigators on Monday afternoon raided the Girdwood, Alaska, home of embattled GOP Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, according to multiple media reports.

“All I can say is that agents from the FBI and IRS are currently conducting a search at that residence,” Dave Heller, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s Anchorage, Alaska, office, told the Anchorage Daily News.

Stevens is under federal investigation for the role the politically connected oil services firm VECO Inc. played in remodeling his Girdwood home. Stevens’ son, Ben Stevens, also is under federal investigation, as is Alaska Rep. Don Young (R).
