Texas: Talton Gets Backing From Former Local GOP Chief

Former Fort Bend County GOP Chairman Gary Gillen has endorsed state Rep. Robert Talton in the 22nd district Republican primary.

Ten candidates are vying for the GOP nomination and the right to take on Rep. Nick Lampson (D) in November in the Republican-leaning, suburban Houston seat.

With such a crowded field, an endorsement from a former leader of the district’s most powerful Republican organization could carry real weight.

“Robert’s unparalleled involvement in the Republican Party has earned him the respect and trust of GOP activists across the state,” Gillen said in a statement.
