New Hampshire: Shaheen, M. Obama to Host Roundtable Today

Former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D) is scheduled to campaign with Michelle Obama today in Manchester, according to the campaign of Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.), the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

Michelle Obama and Shaheen will have a roundtable discussion with women from the state in the early afternoon.

Shaheen is challenging Sen. John Sununu (R) this November after losing to him by a few points in their 2002 matchup. So far, publicly released polls have shown Shaheen leading Sununu, sometimes by double digits.

In response to Thursday’s event, New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen pointed to a line that Sununu often uses on the stump about himself.

“He may be the youngest Member of the U.S. Senate, but he still has more experience than Barack Obama,” Cullen said.
