Illinois: Clyburn Headlines Fundraiser for Foster

After largely self-funding his upset victory over dairy magnate Jim Oberweis (R) in the special election to replace former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R), now-Rep. Bill Foster (D) is turning to more conventional fundraising for their fall rematch.

Foster hosted a high-dollar breakfast at the Hotel George in Capitol Hill on Tuesday with House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) as the special guest.

Neither Foster nor Oberweis, who has self-funded a quartet of unsuccessful campaigns in the past several years, had reported their second-quarter fundraising totals by press time Tuesday.
