Stevens Addresses GOP Colleagues

Leaving the GOP steering luncheon early, one lawmaker said that embattled Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) addressed his colleagues at the meeting. The lawmaker would not say what Stevens said or what the response was from the Republican Conference. Stevens, who has been indicted on charges of filing false information on his financial disclosure forms, was also seen leaving the steering meeting early. The senior Alaska lawmaker did not stop to answer questions and stared down reporters when pressed about whether his son, lobbyist and ex-state Sen. Ben Stevens, would cooperate in the federal investigation.
