Demonstrators Refuse to Enter Protest Zone

A couple thousand protesters marched toward, but not into, the official demonstration area at the Pepsi Center on Wednesday night, followed by dozens of police officers in riot gear and some riding on horses.

Officers at the scene said the crowd was refusing to actually go into the protest area as a matter of principle.

The crowd came from the Rage Against the Machine concert, and many were holding signs protesting the Iraq War as they made their way toward the Pepsi Center.

The protest is one of the largest, if not the largest, of the convention so far.
