Colorado: Club for Growth Backs Shoo-In for House Seat

Secretary of State Mike Coffman (R), a shoo-in for victory on Nov. 4 in the solidly conservative 6th district, has been endorsed by the Club for Growth.

Coffman, technically backed by the club’s political action committee, is aiming to succeed Rep. Tom Tancredo (R), who is retiring. Coffman’s Democratic opponent is aviation consultant Hank Eng.

Western Slope Paper Prefers Schaffer to Udall

Former Rep. Bob Schaffer (R), attempting to come from behind against Rep. Mark Udall (D) in the race for an open Senate seat, has been endorsed by the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel.

“We believe Schaffer’s staunchly conservative ideas are more in line with what Colorado and this country need right now than Udall’s liberal views,” the Daily Sentinel editorial board wrote last week.

The newspaper’s editorial page leans conservative and usually endorses Republicans, although it does back Democrats on occasion. Grand Junction is located in the Republican-leaning 3rd district of Western Colorado, although that seat is currently held by Democratic Rep. John Salazar.
