Lampson Loses in GOP-Leaning District

Republicans have flipped the seat of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R) back into their column by knocking off Rep. Nick Lampson (D) in the suburban Houston-based 22nd district.

With 94 percent reporting, the Associated Press called the race for former Senate aide Pete Olson, who took 52 percent to Lampson’s 45 percent in the GOP-leaning district.

Lampson had been a top GOP target since he won in 2006 over a write-in candidate in the aftermath of DeLay’s decision to resign his seat.
