Georgia Senate Race Headed to Runoff

The Georgia Senate race is heading for a December runoff, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday afternoon. With a few votes still left to be counted, Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R) appears to have fallen just short of the 50 percent he needed to be elected outright. Instead, he and former state Rep. Jim Martin (D), who took 47 percent of the vote, will square off in a Dec. 2 runoff. Both political parties are expected to play heavily in the runoff.
