Biden Names More Hill Vets to His Team

Vice President-elect Joseph Biden on Tuesday continued the trend of stocking senior administration positions with Capitol Hill veterans.

Sudafi Henry, counsel and senior policy adviser to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), will be Biden’s director of legislative affairs. Henry also worked as a legislative director for former Rep. Major Owens (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.). Henry focused on trade, telecommunications and economic issues while working for Hoyer, according to a release from President-elect Barack Obama’s transition office.

Alan Hoffman, who served two tours as Biden’s chief of staff in the Senate, will be the vice president’s deputy chief of staff. Hoffman is now Biden’s chief operating officer on the transition team and formerly held the position of senior vice president for external relations for the University of California.

Biden said in a statement: “Alan Hoffman has been an invaluable advisor to me for over a decade. He will bring sound judgment and key management experience to the office. Sudafi Henry is a rising star on Capitol Hill, who has earned the trust of many Members of Congress. I am pleased he will lead our efforts to build strong working relationships with members of both parties and in both the House and Senate.”
