Virginia: Goode Files for Possible Rematch With Perriello

In order to accept some “unsolicited— contributions from supporters, former Rep. Virgil Goode (R) filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission last week, but he said Monday he still has made no decision about another run in 2010.

For now, Goode, who lost to now-Rep. Tom Perriello (D) in one of the closest races of the 2008 cycle, said he’s concentrating on lending a hand to Republican candidates in Virginia’s gubernatorial and General Assembly races.

Goode, who has been increasingly visible at political events around the district in recent weeks, said he’s discussed another Congressional bid with several of his former colleagues but that he hasn’t yet talked directly to National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (Texas).
