DSCC to Donate $100,000 in Madoff Contributions

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on Thursday decided to riditself of $100,000 in campaign contributions from disgraced financierBernard Madoff. The money will be given to a trust established for people who fell prey to Madoff’s Ponzi schemes.”We’ve reviewed this internally, and decided to give the money to thetrustee for distribution to the victims,” DSCC spokesman Eric Schultz said on Thursday.The committee had come under some scrutiny in the press in recent weeks as politicians who were the beneficiaries of Madoff money moved quickly to purge their campaign coffers of the tainted funds. The DSCC received four $25,000 contributions from Madoff between 2005 and 2008.
