Ohio: Car Dealer Enters GOP Race Against Portman

Former Rep. Rob Portman has his first Senate primary challenger, as Cleveland car dealer Tom Ganley confirmed this week that he will also run for the GOP nomination in 2010.

“I’m not a politician, I’m a businessman in northern Ohio who feels that perhaps we need businessmen in Washington instead of career politicians,— Ganley said.

Ganley isn’t expected to be much of a threat to Portman in the primary. National Republicans consider Portman to be their best bet to keep the seat of retiring Sen. George Voinovich in the GOP column.
