Indiana: Hoo-sier Fundraiser in Chief? The President

President Barack Obama held a duo of fundraisers over the weekend in Indiana, where he raised money for four Democratic Members from the Hoosier State.

Democratic Reps. André Carson, Joe Donnelly, Brad Ellsworth and Baron Hill benefited from Obama’s celebrity draw at an event in Indianapolis on Sunday as part of the president’s trip to the state to speak at Notre Dame’s commencement. Rep. Peter Visclosky, the state’s only other House Democrat, was not a beneficiary of the event.

According to a report in the Indianapolis Star, 650 people paid $250 to $5,000 to attend the fundraiser for the four Members at a downtown hotel.

Additionally, 30 to 40 couples shelled out $15,000 each at a second event at the hotel for the Democratic National Committee. The DNC declined to comment on a grand total for that event, but it was expected to raise upward of $300,000.
