Subtract One Candidate in NY-23

Terry Gach, vice president of Institutional Advancement at the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake, doesn’t plan to seek the GOP nomination for the seat being left open by the appointment of Rep. John McHugh, R-N.Y., to become Army secretary.

“I have no intention of running for the 23rd District congressional seat,” Gach wrote in an e-mail to CQ Politics..

Republicans had floated his name among a list of possible contenders on Tuesday.
