Ashland County District Attorney Sean Duffy (R) announced Wednesday he will run against Rep. Dave Obey (D) in 2010. Perhaps best known for being a cast member on the Boston season of MTV’s “The Real World,— Duffy is also a champion lumberjack.

“David Obey says he stands for Wisconsin values,— Duffy said in his announcement. “Last time I checked, spending money we don’t have is not a Wisconsin value, and promoting big government takeovers of private businesses is not Wisconsin common sense.—

Obey, the powerful chairman of the Appropriations Committee, won re-election with 61 percent last cycle against a little-known opponent. President Barack Obama won the district with 56 percent.
