Crist Raises Whopping $4.3 Million in 50 Days

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) announced Thursday that he raised $4.3 million in just six weeks since joining the race to replace retiring Sen. Mel Martinez (R) next year.Crist’s massive fundraising total means that he averaged about $86,000 raised per day since he announced his Senate bid on May 12. Crist’s total blows away the $340,000 raised by his primary rival, former state Speaker Marco Rubio (R), and it also far outpaces the $3 million that Florida papers reported last week that Crist had raised in the second quarter.“I am humbled by the support that I am receiving from the people of Florida and around the country,— Crist said in a release. “I take their support seriously and continue to work every day to honor the trust and confidence they have placed in me.—
