Rhode Island: Langevin to Face Primary With State Rep.

State Rep. Elizabeth Dennigan (D) has announced she will challenge Rep. James Langevin (D) in next year’s primary, according to several local news reports.

A longtime state Representative, Dennigan is not the first Democrat to challenge Langevin. In 2006, Brown University political science professor Jennifer Lawless (D) ran against Langevin because of his opposition to abortion, but she lost by more than 20 points.

Dennigan lives in the 1st district, which is represented by Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D), but told a local newspaper that she plans to move.
