Maryland: State Delegate May Be Eyeing Edwards Primary

State Del. Herman Taylor may be moving closer to a possible primary challenge to Rep. Donna Edwards (D) in the suburban Washington, D.C., 4th district.

Taylor, who was elected to the House of Delegates in 2002, circulated an invitation last week for a Saturday event where he planned to discuss his future electoral plans with supporters.

“I am exploring the possibility of a campaign for a higher position, and I would really appreciate your advice and input over the next couple of weeks as I come to a decision,— Taylor wrote in the invitation.

Taylor noted that “this is not a fundraiser; however anyone who wishes to donate to my cause is welcome to do so.—

Those donations would have gone to Taylor’s state campaign committee.

Taylor’s state legislative district lies on the eastern edge of Montgomery County. The 4th Congressional district includes most of Prince George’s County but also includes a sizable chunk of Montgomery County.
