Grayson Petitions Reid to Take a Hard Line on Health Bill

Outspoken liberal Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) is taking his act to the other side of the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon, helping to deliver 90,000 petitions to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) urging him to take a hard line on health care reform.

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee, a political action committee Grayson joined, will be petitioning Reid to strip the leadership titles from any Democratic Senators who support a Republican filibuster. Grayson, meanwhile, has lambasted Democrats for obsessing over the vote of Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), noting she wasn’t elected president and represents a small state.

Grayson on Saturday called for the Democratic Party to rename itself the “Conscience Party— and the Republican Party to be renamed the “Selfish Party,— and has become a darling of the liberal blogosphere since declaring that the Republican Party plan for health care was to “don’t get sick,— and if you get sick, to “die quickly.—
