Kansas: Tiahrt Gets FirstMember Endorsement

Rep. Todd Tiahrt announced that Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) has endorsed his bid for Senate. Tiahrt and Rep. Jerry Moran are facing off next August in the GOP primary to succeed Sen. Sam Brownback (R), who is stepping down to run for governor.

Thus far, Moran has receive the lion’s share of endorsements from other Members, including Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Jim DeMint (R-S.C.). Rogers’ support marks Tiahrt’s first public endorsement from a fellow Republican in Congress.

“In Congress, when we pull together to stop liberals like [Speaker] Nancy Pelosi from taxing our families into poverty or our children into years of debt, Todd Tiahrt stands with us— Rogers said in a statement.

The winner of the GOP primary next August is expected to be the next Senator from Kansas given that the state traditionally votes for Republicans.
