Grayson Called Bernanke Aide ‘Whore’

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) called an aide to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke a “K Street whore— during a radio interview last month, according to audio posted on YouTube.“Here I am, the only Member of Congress who actually worked as an economist. And she’s, this lobbyist, this K Street whore, is trying to teach me about economics,— Grayson fumes during the interview. In the interview posted on YouTube, Grayson was referring to Bernanke adviser Linda Robertson. Grayson pointed out during the interview that Robertson had headed up Enron Corp.’s lobbying shop in Washington, D.C. The YouTube post is the latest controversy for Grayson, who in September charged that the Republican Party plan for health care was to “don’t get sick,— and if you get sick, to “die quickly.— He later used the remark to raise thousands for his re-election campaign. “The Congressman’s choice of the words referred to her career as a lobbyist and her history of promoting whomever and whatever pays,— a Democratic aide said of Grayson’s latest dustup. “Congressman Grayson was an economist and believes she is not qualified to attack complex financial reform policies.—Grayson, working with libertarian Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), is seeking to have the Federal Reserve audited. Paul’s legislation has 307 co-sponsors.“I can confirm that the interview occurred,— Grayson Press Secretary Todd Jurkowski said.Robertson most recently worked at Johns Hopkins University, and worked during the Clinton years at the Treasury Department as a Congressional liaison.
