Bill Clinton to Headline Senate Lunch on Tuesday

Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to speak to the Senate Democratic Conference on Tuesday during a closed-door, weekly caucus lunch, according to Senate sources.Clinton’s appearance at the Senator-only caucus comes on the heels of the House approving major health care reform legislation Saturday night. Clinton mounted an unsuccessful push for comprehensive health care reform in 1993.With the House having approved its version of health care reform, all eyes are on now the Senate, where Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is hoping to resolve differences in his Conference and clear a bill before the end of the year. Democrats are hoping to begin debate on their measure before Senators leave town for the Thanksgiving holiday later this month.
