Embattled Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) has moved out of the C Street house run by a secretive Christian organization that is also home to a number of lawmakers, including Sens. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.).

According to the Las Vegas Sun, Ensign moved out of the house, located at 133 C St. SE, “a few weeks ago.— The move comes weeks after Ensign admitted to having an extramarital affair with a former campaign aide, Cynthia Hampton. Ensign, who resigned his GOP leadership post after acknowledging the relationship this summer, also admitted that his family paid the one-time aide’s family $96,000.

Residents of the C Street house generally avoid discussing what goes on behind closed doors. Coburn, however, has admitted to discussing the affair with Ensign.

Ensign’s revelation of the relationship touched off an ugly fight with Hampton’s husband, Doug, who has periodically gone public with new information about the affair.

The Senate Ethics Committee has been conducting a preliminary investigation of the affair, and ethics experts have said it is likely the Department of Justice will at least review charges that Ensign violated federal law when his parents gave the Hamptons money.
