Obama to Meet for Ninth Time With National Security Team

President Barack Obama on Monday night will hold yet another meeting with his national security team to discuss his new strategy for Afghanistan. The session appeared to be hastily arranged, with the White House only adding it to the schedule Monday, well after the day’s schedule was released Sunday night. It will be the ninth time that the president has met with national security and military advisers to discuss his options. The president is under growing pressure to finish the process, but White House officials say he wants to take time to get it right. Obama risks alienating liberal Democrats if he decides to send more troops to the region, while he’s likely to face a backlash from the right if he decides against more deployments.
