Mike Murphy Joining Whitman Governor Campaign
Republican strategist and talking head Mike Murphy has joined former eBay CEO Meg Whitman’s (R) campaign for California governor.
In a release distributed Tuesday afternoon, the Whitman campaign announced that Murphy “will be joining the team to advise, at a senior level, our campaign’s winning strategy.” It noted that Murphy has helped send a long list of Republicans to the governor’s mansion in Democratic-leaning states, including current California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Jeb Bush of Florida and Tommy Thompson of Wisconsin.
Whitman has discussed spending as much as $150 million of her own money on her campaign and has already assembled a roster of high-profile aides and consultants. She leads early polling in the three-way Republican primary. California Attorney General Jerry Brown is the lone contender on the Democratic side.
