GOP Women Host Forum on Dangers of Obama’s Agenda

The top-ranking woman in House Republican leadership will host a forum on Wednesday to discuss how the Obama administration’s domestic and foreign policy agendas will negatively impact women on every economic and professional level.

House Republican Conference Vice Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.) will host the panel discussion “The Administration’s Policies of 2009 — A Woman’s Perspective— in the Capitol Visitor Center Wednesday morning.

“These policies have significant implications for women in this country, including moms, daughters, women employees and employers, and those who serve our nation honorably,— McMorris Rodgers said in a statement.

Scheduled speakers include former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs Victoria C. Clarke, former Lieutenant Governor of New York Betsy McCaughey, former Rep. Susan Molinari (R-N.Y.) and Amy Nichols, president and CEO of Dogtopia, a national pet care company.

The forum is the latest of several women-centric events McMorris Rodgers has held over the past few months to highlight concerns about Democratic agenda items. During the health care debate in the House she joined other female members of the House Republican Conference to decry the negative effects they believed the Democratic health care plan would have on women.

Both parties have been specifically targeting women as they try to make their case either for or against Obama’s platform in preparation for the 2010 elections.
