Club for Growth Bundling for Rubio Hits $100,000

The powerful anti-tax group the Club for Growth announced Wednesday that it has helped bundle $100,000 in donations to the campaign of former state House Speaker Marco Rubio (R) in a little over a month.

The Club formally endorsed Rubio on Nov. 9, setting up a marquee showdown with national GOP leaders, who are backing Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. Even before their endorsement the Club attacked Crist for being too moderate in his fiscal outlook. Wednesday’s announcement regarding the Club’s efforts to direct donations to Rubio’s campaign came just hours after a new Rassmussen survey showed that Rubio had pulled even with the governor in a poll of likely primary voters.

“Marco Rubio and his vision of economic freedom are resonating around the country,” Club President Chris Chocola said in the Club release. “In the middle of the holiday season, in the middle of a recession, we have bundled an astonishing $100,000 in little over a month.”

CQ Politics currently rates the general election race Likely Republican.
