Obama to Meet with Hill Leaders After Briefing on Security Failures

President Barack Obama will meet Tuesday night with the top Democratic Congressional leaders at the White House and via teleconference, the White House said Monday evening.Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) will be with Obama at the White House, while Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) will check in via conference call.White House officials were not immediately available to describe the meeting, but the session will follow an afternoon meeting between Obama and relevant agency chiefs to discuss the security failures that allowed a terrorist to nearly detonate an explosive inside an airliner over Detroit on Christmas Day.Obama is scheduled to make remarks after the meeting with agency leaders but before the session with the Congressional Democrats. Vice President Joseph Biden will be in both meetings.
