Hill-Sodrel, Part Five? Not So Fast

CQ Politics noted earlier Monday that former Rep. Mike Sodrel (R) is running again for the House in Indiana’s 9th district, where he would face Rep. Baron P. Hill (D) for the fifth consecutive election.

But don’t call this race Sodrel-Hill Part V just yet. That’s because Sodrel would first need to win the Republican primary in May — and that’s not a given.

There already are two Republicans in the race — including Todd Young, a lawyer who has been campaigning for the seat since last January. He suggests that it’s time for Republicans to field a new candidate after four tries with Sodrel (who lost in 2002, won in 2004, then lost in 2006 and 2008).
