Murtha Back in the Hospital After Gall Bladder Surgery

Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) is back in the hospital after having his gall bladder removed last week, his spokesman confirmed. The 77-year-old lawmaker underwent scheduled laparoscopic surgery at the Bethesda Naval Hospital last week, but complications arose from the procedure and he has since checked into the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. The nature of the complications was not immediately clear Tuesday. Murtha was hospitalized in December after experiencing abdominal pain, an illness that was initially misdiagnosed as swine flu but turned out to be related to his gall bladder. Murtha’s condition was first reported by Politico.
