Dennis Moore’s Wife to Run in Kansas

Stephene Moore, the wife of retiring Rep. Dennis Moore (D-Kan.), will run to succeed her husband, the Kansas City Star reported Thursday.

Moore’s conservative Kansas City-area district has been viewed as a top pickup opportunity for Republicans. But Stephene Moore’s entrance into the race should significantly improve Democrats’ chances of holding the seat. According to the Kansas City Star report, Democrats recently polled in the district and found the race would be a dead heat if Stephene Moore was on the ballot.

Former state Sen. Nick Jordan, who was the 2008 nominee against Rep. Moore, and state Rep. Kevin Yoder are the GOP frontrunners in the Aug. 3 primary.
