Kansas: Poll Shows Moran Trouncing Tiahrt by 20 Points

Rep. Jerry Moran is leading Rep. Todd Tiahrt in the race for the Republican Senate nomination, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KCTV and KWCH.

The poll, conducted June 24-27, found 53 percent of those surveyed favored Moran, versus 33 percent for Tiahrt. Nine percent said they were undecided, and two little-known candidates together registered 5 percent.

The sample included 721 registered voters who said they were likely to vote in the Aug. 3 Republican primary and 364 who said they were likely to vote in the Democratic primary.

Among Democrats, the No. 1 answer was “undecided,” selected by 35 percent. Lisa Johnston, a college professor, earned 24 percent; retired businessman Charles Schollenberger drew 16 percent and three lesser-known candidates shared the rest.

The margin of error for the GOP poll was 3.7 points and was 5.2 points for the poll of Democrats.
