HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Who Will Play Edwards? Pitt, Damon … or Kenneth the Page?
Let the armchair casting begin! With the news that Aaron Sorkin (of “West Wing” fame) will be directing the movie version of “The Politician,” the scandalicious John Edwards book penned by former Edwards aide Andrew Young, the speculation has already begun as to which actors will tackle the lead roles.
Dennis Quaid, who bears more than a passing resemblance to the North Carolina Democrat, was coy about playing the former vice presidential candidate during an April visit to Washington. And the Washington Post’s Celebritology blog picks Tom Cruise as Edwards’ doppelganger, plus the genius call of Tea Leoni as the perfect woman to play Edwards’ mistress, Rielle Hunter.
Here’s a dark horse: Edwards has sometimes drawn comparisons to Kenneth the NBC page on the TV show “30 Rock.” The hair! The toothy grin! He certainly could inject some comedy into the role.
Matt Damon? Aaron Eckhart? Brad Pitt? All possibilities, according to Popeater, which took a stab at casting the film when it was just a tell-all book.
