Washington: Boeing Workers Help Murray Rebut Attack

Confronted by an opposition ad that tries to turn the “mom in tennis shoes” slogan against her, Sen. Patty Murray (D) is defending herself as only an incumbent can: with an ad that shows Boeing workers thanking her for saving their jobs.

“Sen. Murray stood up for us,” one worker says in the commercial, which repeats the words “local jobs” three times.

The campaign ad comes on the heels of an anti-Murray spot by the Republican-supporting 501(c)(4) group American Action Network.

The attack ad depicts just the legs and tennis shoes of a woman walking on the backs of a man, woman and child. For its final punch, a narrator says, “Sorry, Patty. It’s time you get off our backs.”

Both ads mention only Murray.

An Aug. 17 primary will determine which Republican will be running against her: businessman Paul Akers, former Washington Redskins player Clint Didier or former state Sen. Dino Rossi.
