New Carnahan Ad Calls Blunt ‘Mr. Bailout’

Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D) is up with her second television ad, and it’s beginning to establish a pattern in her Senate race against Rep. Roy Blunt (R).

Referring to Blunt as “Mr. Bailout,” the ad focuses on Blunt’s work to pass the Troubled Asset Relief Program and his support from Wall Street interests. The first clip in the 30-second spot comes from a 2008 Blunt appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“Here in the studio with me is Congressman Roy Blunt,” host Bob Schieffer says. “He carried the water for the Bush administration, did the heavy lifting, was instrumental in getting the bailout passed.”

The new ad follows a similar one that used some of the same language. Both conclude with the same tagline: “Mr. Bailout, Roy Blunt, the very worst in Washington.”

Blunt’s latest ad is a counterpoint.

“Who’s Robin Carnahan kidding?” a narrator asks. “Roy Blunt is a strong, independent voice for conservative values with a long record of cracking down on Wall Street abuse.”
