NRCC to Host ‘Election Watch’ at Grand Hyatt

The National Republican Congressional Committee is hosting an “Election Night Results Watch” for GOP staffers and volunteers at the Grand Hyatt downtown.

House Minority Leader John Boehner (Ohio) and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour are expected to attend, according to a copy of the invite obtained by Roll Call. The event, which starts at 8:30 p.m., is free.

“This event is not a fundraiser and it is not a ‘party’ — even if voters remove Democrats from power, you don’t celebrate at a time when one in 10 Americans are out of work and our children’s future is threatened by mountains of debt,” NRCC spokesman Ken Spain said in a statement.

The DCCC is holding a similar event at the Liaison Hotel on Capitol Hill, though the Democrats’ Election Night Watch Reception will be a fundraiser. The invitation lists three tiers of tickets. Individuals can get a single ticket for $1,000, while political action committees can get one ticket for $5,000. Two tickets run individuals $2,500 and PACs $10,000. Four tickets cost $5,000 for individuals and $15,000 for PACs.
