Heard on the Hill: The Party of the Year

With the holiday season quickly approaching, pundits have already begun debating who should be named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year.” And if Rep. Michele Bachmann has her way, a person wouldn’t be honored — a party would.

We’ll let you guess which one.

While speaking at Monday’s “November Speaks” rally run by Americans for Prosperity, the Minnesota Republican said she thinks tea party members “are the people of the year.” Bachmann didn’t mention Time by name, but she told tea partyers who gathered at the rally at the Capitol that they should be honored by the media as the most influential people of 2010 because “you are the people who changed the world.”

“There’s a chapter in the American history book with your name on it,” Bachmann added.

Unfortunately for Bachmann, Time has already posted a list of nominees on its website, and the tea party isn’t among them. Party faves Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are on the list, however.
