House Democratic leaders are heading to the White House on Monday afternoon for another meeting with Vice President Joseph Biden to try to broker a deal on tax cuts, Capitol Hill sources confirmed.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (Md.), Assistant to the Speaker Chris Van Hollen (Md.), Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson (Conn.) and Democratic Caucus Vice Chairman Xavier Becerra (Calif.) were invited to meet with Biden at 2 p.m. to nail down their strategy for passing a tax cut package that is all but certain to include tax cuts for upper-income Americans, something Democrats have loudly opposed. President Barack Obama has been negotiating with Congressional leaders on a deal to extend the tax cuts in some form before the end of the year, when they are set to expire.

The deal that’s coming together would temporarily extend cuts for all Americans in exchange for an extension of unemployment insurance and other tax extenders considered a priority to the White House, including the Making Work Pay tax credit.

Congressional Democratic leaders spent Saturday in meetings with Obama and Biden trying to resolve the tax cut debate. Obama met with Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) on Saturday afternoon, and Biden later hosted Pelosi, Hoyer, Van Hollen and White House interim Chief of Staff Pete Rouse at his residence.
