Heard on the Hill: The Real World: Congress

Freshman Rep. Sean Duffy might have ditched the “Real World” for the marble halls of Congress, but it looks like he hasn’t forgotten his reality-show roots.

A spy found the Wisconsin Republican outside his office before the swearing-in ceremonies Wednesday morning, where he was talking into a flip-cam held by a staffer. It seemed “old-school reality,” according to our tipster.

Duffy’s reality-show-esque performance was actually part of his constituent outreach efforts. While running for Congress, Duffy often posted video updates from the campaign trail to his website, YouTube and social media pages. “It’s something he plans to continue as a Member,” spokesman Daniel Son says.

In the video, posted online Wednesday afternoon, Duffy’s reality-show skills definitely come across.

“All right, we are here at 1208 Longworth, which is the new home of Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional district office. If you’re out in D.C., I encourage you to come on in,” Duffy says into the camera. “It’s really easy to get to. It’s in Longworth. You go up the front door, go up one flight, walk down the hall, here we are.”

A la “MTV Cribs,” the camera then follows Duffy into his office, where he introduces his staff and shows off his digs. “This is our office! Check it out,” he says.
