Obama to Attend Holbrooke Funeral on Friday

President Barack Obama will speak Friday at the funeral of Richard Holbrooke, the administration’s special representative to Pakistan and Afghanistan, according to a statement from the White House.

Vice President Joseph Biden will also attend the 3 p.m. service at the Kennedy Center.

Holbrooke, 69, died Dec. 13, a few days after he was hospitalized to treat a tear in his aorta. He was a foreign policy adviser to four Democratic presidents and presided over the 1995 negotiations that ended fighting in Bosnia. He also served as ambassador to Germany from 1993 to 1994 and ambassador to the United Nations from 1999 to 2001.
