Two former Members and a former senior adviser to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) have been named resident fellows at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics.

Former Reps. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) and Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) are among the six fellows for the institute’s spring semester. Stupak chose not to seek re-election in 2010; Inglis was defeated in June 2010 in a South Carolina primary. Top Pelosi aide Ellen Qualls is also joining the program. Qualls most recently served as senior adviser for strategic panning for Pelosi.

“This ideologically diverse group of political professionals possess a deep knowledge of international diplomacy, foreign affairs, speech writing and legislating on Capitol Hill,” fellows Program Director Eric Andersen said in a statement. “We are looking forward to hosting such prominent practitioners on campus to inspire the next generation of leaders in politics and public service.”

Caroline Croft, a senior adviser at the State Department; John McConnell, former speech writer and White House deputy assistant to the president and assistant to the vice president from 2001 to 2009; and Emma Sky, a senior political adviser until 2010 to Gens. Raymond Odierno and David Petraeus in Iraq were also named as fellows.

During their time on campus, fellows interact with students and lead weekly study groups, among other things.
