Rep. Joe Heck Backs Mitt Romney

Likely presidential candidate Mitt Romney has reportedly already snagged a Congressional endorsement in Nevada, which is scheduled to be the third primary state behind Iowa and New Hampshire.

A spokesman for Rep. Joe Heck told the Associated Press on Tuesday that the freshman Nevada Republican would support Romney if he enters the presidential race, as he is expected to do.

Romney campaigned for Heck last year in his successful bid to unseat Democratic Rep. Dina Titus.

The Nevada Republican Party announced in December that its caucus would be held Feb. 18, 2012, joining Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina as the only states slated to hold nominating contests that month.

Florida, however, still has a Jan. 31, 2012, primary scheduled.
