Pence Puts Announcement on Hold After bin Laden News
Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) has postponed a Monday conference call with supporters — during which he was widely expected to announce a gubernatorial run — following news that United States armed forces had killed Osama bin Laden.
“Due to the momentous news concerning Osama Bin Laden, our conference call will be delayed until later this week,” one of Pence’s aides wrote Monday morning.
Pence had previously asked supporters to join him on a 10 a.m. Monday “invitation-only, private conference call.” Although his campaign did not reveal any more details about the nature of the call on the invitation, Pence is widely expected to announce he will run for governor.
Pence, a former radio personality in the Hoosier State, told reporters in late January that he planned to travel the state while he considered a bid for governor. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) is term limited and might mount a White House bid.
