Capito Draws a Primary Challenge
Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.) got a primary challenge Tuesday when Republican Jonathan Miller, a member of the state House of Delegates, declared his candidacy for Congress in a Web video. He told the Charleston Gazette he joined the race because “God has called me to run for this office now.”
Miller, an insurance agent and substitute teacher, was first elected to the state House in 2006. On his website, he said he is running for Congress because he is “tired of seeing Washington politicians put themselves before you.”
Capito overwhelmingly won a sixth term in 2010 and ended the first quarter of this year with $786,000 in the bank.
