Romney Announces $18.3 Million 2nd-Quarter Haul

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign announced Wednesday that it received $18.3 million in contributions in the second quarter, by far the most raised by any of the Republican candidates during the three-month fundraising period that ended June 30.

The former Massachusetts governor also reported cash on hand of $12.6 million, and a “burn rate” of 31 percent off of donations received from contributors in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Romney’s take presumably included more than $10 million raised in a single day in May during an all-day phone bank held in Las Vegas.

“Voters are responding to Mitt Romney’s message that President [Barack] Obama’s policies have failed and that we need new leadership in Washington. Our fundraising for the second quarter represents the strong support Mitt Romney has across the country,” Romney campaign Finance Chairman Spencer Zwick said in a statement.
