Hasner Posts $560,000 2nd-Quarter Haul in Florida
Florida Senate hopeful Adam Hasner raised $560,000 in the second quarter and had $470,000 in cash on hand at the end of June.
Hasner, a former Florida House Majority Leader, framed his fundraising haul as the result of being outside the Tallahassee “establishment.” In the GOP primary to take on Sen. Bill Nelson (D), Hasner faces Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos, who raised more than $900,000 in the quarter, and former Sen. George LeMieux, who has not yet released his fundraising numbers.
“We always expected the two establishment opponents to start off raising more money than us, because that’s what the establishment does,” Hasner said in a statement. “But we’ll ultimately win this race because of our positive conservative principles and a growing grassroots movement that’s looking for leaders who’ll stand up to Democrats and Republicans who act like them.”
Hasner has worked to position himself to the right of his two opponents. In a recent St. Petersburg Times’ Florida Insider poll, which surveyed key establishment political figures in the state, the majority thought Hasner was the most conservative candidate and a plurality expected Hasner to win the Republican nomination.
