Sen. Harry Reid’s Wife Being Treated for Cancer

Landra Reid, wife of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), is undergoing treatment for stage 2 breast cancer, the Senator’s office said Friday.

“Senator and Mrs. Reid appreciate the thoughts and concerns expressed during this time,” Reid spokesman Zac Petkanas said in a statement. “They ask that they be afforded the respect and privacy that any family would want.”

Reid’s office confirmed that his wife is receiving treatment, including chemotherapy in Washington.

In March 2010, Landra Reid sustained injuries in a car accident in which she was riding with the couple’s daughter Lana.

The Reids have been married since 1959.
